New NIW Successful Stories (22)

Dr. Uematsu

While most of Z&A’s clients are part of the very best in their fields, a select few stand above the rest. Dr. Uematsu, whose discoveries and research of the links between environmental health and cancer has been cited an unbelievable 113 times by his peers, is one such talent. His work, combined with the Ph.D in environmental medicine he earned from Japan and the M.S. and M.D. degrees he acquired from some of the best universities in China, makes him well-qualified and enables him to conduct his studies, which have recently focused on the crippling effects on the vascular system of chronic arsenic exposure.

Needing a law firm that matched his level of expertise, Dr. Uematsu retained Z&A in 2005 to file an NIW.  Our attorneys evaluated Dr. Uematsu’s experience and academic credentials to formulate an NIW that would best suit him. Dr. Uematsu’s work on metallic environmental pollution and carcinogens at the CIIT Center for Health Research stands to impact millions of people around the world.  We also assisted Dr. Uematsu in selecting and compiling his many citations as a means of recommendation from professors around the country.

Dr. Uematsu’s petition was filed June 1, 2005 and approved a few months later.

Dr. Qin

An expert in reproductive biology and cryobiology whose work has earned awards from the Chinese Academy of Science and the American Heart Association, Dr. Qin received his Ph.D. in clinical veterinary medicine from a Chinese university regarded as one of the best. His contributions to the scientific community’s understanding of vascular regulation under osmotic fluctuations have also won him warm praise.

Afraid that his inexperience with the daunting paperwork would have the immigration officials give his petition the proverbial cold shoulder, Dr. Qin retained Z&A in 2005 to file an NIW.  Our attorneys chose to stress that Dr. Qin’s work has enormously powerful implications for diabetes research, and explained in the request that this meant a national scope of interest. Together with the careful selection of the many articles he has both published and peer-reviewed for Theriogenology, the leading journal in his field, the evidence made for a compelling case.

Dr. Qin’s petition was filed May 2, 2005 and approved August 5, 2005, a rapid process.

Mr. Musashi

Combination clinical neuropsychologist and Ph.D candidate at a prestigious southeastern US school, Mr. Musashi’s uncanny skill set began from the time he completed his B.A. in psychology from a top Korean university. Mr. Musashi studies language-mapping procedures, vital to the further research of epilepsy and brain tumors.  Mr. Musashi has published scientific articles in journals such as Epilepsia and has over 10 conference presentations to his name.

Mr. Musashi retained Z&A in 2005 to file an NIW.  Our attorneys evaluated Mr. Musashi’s experience and academic credentials to formulate an NIW that would best suit him. Because his relative youth translated into a smaller number of recommendation letters than would be ideal, we shaped the petition to stress the import of his work on neural imaging for the successful development and use of next-generation medicines and treatments for brain tumors.

Guided by Z&A’s matchless help, Dr. Musashi’s petition was approved on May 24, 2005.

Dr. Pei

Dr. Pei received his Ph.D in chemical engineering and systems science from a highly regarded university along the US Gulf Coast. Arriving in America after conducting award-winning research at a famous Chinese institution, he quickly found his niche in using his OCOO functional group to perform vapor-liquid equilibrium experiments.

Engrossed in his current work with High Performance Computing (HPC) and its applications to his research, Dr. Pei needed experienced legal aid to successfully file an NIW. The unequaled flair Z&A brought to bear on Dr. Pei’s situation resulted in an efficacious petition that focused both on the implications his work has for climate and hurricane forecasting and the 10 letters of support we were able to collect.

Dr. Pei’s partnership with Z&A reaped the reward he sought, for his application was submitted on August 23, 2004, and approved within a few months.

Dr. Wei

The National Institute of Health and the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences agree: Dr. Wei’s research is worthy of recognition. Having earned her Ph.D in medicine from a research university in China, she came to the US to conduct genetic research concerning primary pulmonary hypertension (PPH) and the associated risk factors involved.

Dr. Wei retained Z&A in 2003 for help with her NIW petition. Immediately, our elite team identified the ramifications of her work for the over 1 million Americans who suffer from PPH, the pharmaceutical industry, and the healthcare industry. Bolstering our claim by documenting Dr. Wei’s lengthy list of memberships and grant awards from national organizations, we felt confident about submitting the petition.

This confidence proved well-placed, as Dr. Wei’s approval notice came on May 25, 2003, a short time after we submitted it.

Mr. Gaspar
Although his academic and professional credentials were fewer than most of our clients, Z&A was able to successfully petition on Mr. Gaspar’s behalf for an NIW. Mr. Gaspar received his M.S. at a prestigious university in the Southwest in cell biology after completing his B.S. at a university in China.  His research has focused on functional genomics, including the functional differences in water transport between halophytes and non-halophytes. Mr. Gaspar was rare in that he had almost no publications to his credit, although he had performed successful presentations at several conferences.

Mr. Gaspar retained Z&A in 2005 to file an NIW.  Our attorneys evaluated Mr. Gaspar’s experience and academic credentials to formulate an NIW that would best suit him. We collected 8 of the strongest letters of recommendation and support possible, emphasized the conference presentations, and wrote at length about the contributions to the nation’s understanding of the biology behind learning and memory that Mr. Gaspar had effected.

Mr. Gaspar’s petition was filed on May 10, 2005, and approved that same month on the 25th, only 2 weeks later. The speed with which the application was approved is a credit to the masterful work of our attorneys.

Dr. Shang

Z&A’s list of clients includes many prolific authors, but Dr. Shang outshines most of them by merit of his 26 publications, conference abstracts and citations. He received his Ph.D in physical chemistry from a prestigious university in the US South, and currently researches laser spectroscopy and gas phase chemical dynamics. In addition, he is one of only 10 people in the US who has been able to operate the Continuum “Mirage 3000” laser system, making him uniquely suited to perform dazzling research.

In the same way, Z&A is staffed by attorneys of rare skill who were able to help Dr. Shang with his NIW petition. We discussed the import of Dr. Shang’s work to environmental analysis, the interest which NASA and the Department of Defense had expressed in various aspects of his research, and the large amount of written work to which he could put his name.

Dr. Shang’s choice of Z&A resulted in a successful and quick NIW petition process, as we submitted it on February 19, 2004, and it was approved on May 18, 2004.

Dr. Dume

Dr. Dume obtained a Ph.D in biological anthropology at an elite university in the US Pacific Northwest after earning a Master’s degree in biology in the Caribbean. Her work is crucial to the national effort to prevent substance abuse, particularly drugs, alcohol and tobacco, as several independent advisory opinions agreed. Her cross-cultural approach in her work with high-risk groups like impoverished youth and the homeless, which was well-documented both in her numerous publications and in her NIW petition that Z&A created, has won praise throughout her field.

As soon as Dr. Dume retained Z&A for help with her NIW, our superior legal team carefully chose to persuade the immigration officials by means of discussing the national interest implications of her work in preventing serious substance abuse by the nation’s youth.

Convinced by our cogent and compelling arguments, the immigration officials approved Dr. Dume’s NIW petition on June 2, 2005.

Mr. Xia

Equipped with dual Master’s degrees in molecular biology and computer science from prestigious schools in the American Midwest, Mr. Xia approached Z&A for competent legal assistance with his NIW petition.

Our experienced attorneys designed a comprehensive package for Mr. Xia, compensating for his small number of publications and support letters and nonexistent citations by calling attention to the overwhelming importance of his research. Once, Mr. Xia sought employment in the bioinformatics field supporting target drug determination; now, he is spearheading the development of cutting-edge biological and computer systems and their effect on the intricate networks that lead to cancer and other diseases. Clearly, then, his work is national in scope, we argued, and his petition should be approved.

The immigration official agreed with our assessment, assenting to Mr. Xia’s NIW request on April 5, 2005.

Dr. Sun

Synthetic studies of mitomycin C, an extremely important first-line cancer and chemotherapy drug, are the hallmark of Dr. Sun’s research. His Ph.D in organic chemistry from a Midwestern university in the US, achieved on more of the same promise he showed in obtaining his B.S. in chemistry from a premier research institution in China, certainly qualified him academically for the NIW he sought. But how else would he prove his case?

To answer his question, Dr. Sun turned to the legal experts at Z&A. Not only did we provide him with an effective argument tailored to suit his needs and which focused on the very strong possibility of his work contributing to the national interest in cheaper, more effective drug medications, but we were able to obtain several independent advisory opinions affirming Dr. Sun’s promise and extraordinary talent.

Combining this evidence with true legal skill, we were able to have Dr. Sun’s NIW petition approved on November 25, 2005, after only an incredibly short 20 days.

Dr. Tzu

Dr. Tzu received his Ph.D. at a prestigious Japanese university in organic chemistry, building on his M.S. in photographic chemistry he earned from a top research school in China.  When he arrived in America a few years ago, he began research on synthetic routes for couplers, photo-switchable systems and drug delivery mechanisms, important advances in both the photography and pharmaceutical industries.

Dr. Tzu retained Z&A in 2005 to file an NIW.  Our attorneys evaluated Dr. Tzu’s experience and academic credentials to formulate an NIW that would best suit him. Due to the small number of published articles we emphasized that he had been a presenter at several conferences and also a reviewer of other Journals. We also assisted him in selecting 8 superior letters of recommendations from various universities across the country and highlighted his impressive competitive awards he had won both in Japan and the US.

Dr. Tzu’s petition was filed in September 2004 and approved soon after, a remarkable testament to the unerring skill Z&A employed on his behalf.

Dr. No

Dr. No received his Ph.D. at a prestigious American university in physics, soon beginning his work on computational condensed matter physics.  His primary focus is stochastic simulation and nanotech quantum modeling.  Dr. No has had his work funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, an extremely competitive award.

Dr. No retained Z&A in 2003 to file an NIW.  Our attorneys evaluated Dr. No’s experience and academic credentials to formulate an NIW that would best suit him.  Because he had very few publications or citations, we focused on the broad impact that his research would have on the study of thin films and semiconductors, critical to many industries at a national level.

Dr. No’s petition was approved on June 14, 2003.

Dr. Tae

Dr. Tae has a proven track record of success. He is, after all, the first person to purify the CCR4-NOT protein complex to near homogeneity using mass spectrometry, a feat he accomplished with the skills he acquired while working toward his Ph.D in Biochemistry from a great school on the American east coast. Dr. Tae’s various papers and articles, all published in prestigious journals like the Journal of Molecular Biology, continue to set the standard for his field, as his peers have cited his work multiple times.

Choosing to retain Z&A for his NIW fit Dr. Tae’s pattern of behavior. From the beginning, our capable and friendly attorneys constructed a case designed to ensure the triumph of his petition. We selected the most outstanding work Dr. Tae had done, added very strong independent advisory opinions and support letters, and made sure to emphasize the import of his research on mRNA degradation for the study of health problems like cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.

When we received notice that the USCIS had approved Dr. Tae’s NIW petition on February 28, 2005, our legal team knew that we were like Dr. Tae: we had succeeded.

Dr. Bo

After graduating from an elite university in Bangladesh with a B.S. in food science, Dr. Bo came to the US, eventually earning a Ph.D in food science from a prestigious university in the South. Something of an international celebrity in his field, he has been cited by researchers in the US, Greece, Italy, France, India, and Slovakia, to name a few countries. His own research has concentrated on improving the quality of grown rice, lipid quality and the utilization of agricultural crops.

Dr. Bo realized he needed a law firm whose relative talent level matched his own for assistance with his NIW petition, so Z&A was a natural selection. Gathering the multitude of over 16 articles and 12 citations his work had garnered, we chose a broad-based strategy designed to overwhelm the USCIS officials. As we sent off the NIW petition that discussed the implications of Dr. Bo’s work for literally feeding the world, we knew that ours was a job well done.

Vindication of our efforts came less than a month after we submitted Dr. Bo’s petition on February 9, 2005 when the NIW was approved.

Dr. Xavier

Dr. Xavier received her Ph.D. at a prestigious West Coast university in molecular, cellular and developmental biology.  When she arrived in the US in 2002 from South America, she began researching RNA and protein transcription, eventually becoming the first person in the world to identify an RNA-specific interaction site in Rho, a protein that plays a crucial role in transcription termination. In only a few years of work, Dr. Xavier has an impressive 20 citations of her research.

Dr. Xavier retained Z&A in 2005 to file an NIW.  Our incredibly gifted and empathetic attorneys evaluated Dr. Xavier’s experience and academic credentials to formulate an NIW that would best suit her. She obviously was well qualified to receive an NIW, but we also assisted her in selecting 12 superior letters of support from countries all over the world.

Dr. Xavier’s petition was filed June 11, 2004 and approved soon thereafter.

Dr. Yi

Dr. Yi received her Ph.D. at one of the best and most prestigious universities in Texas in statistics. Her field of research, semiconductor metrology, has important ramifications in the chip production industry, which in turn is a critical link in many other areas of the economy. She has also played an important role in making new discoveries concerning thin films of high dielectric materials.

Dr. Yi retained Z&A in 2005 to file an NIW.  Our attorneys evaluated Dr. Yi’s experience and academic credentials to formulate an NIW that would best suit her. She obviously was well qualified to receive an NIW, but we also assisted her by stressing her over 30 citations, a very important statistic in her favor.

Dr. Yi’s petition was filed April 11, 2005 and approved less than three months later on June 28, 2005.

Dr. Gao

Dr. Gao possesses a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from a university in New York. He is currently studying semiconductors, specifically the commercialization of silicon carbide single crystal systems. His projects focus on the applications for spacecraft, aircraft, automobiles and radar.

Dr. Gao retained our firm in 2005 to file his NIW petition. Our attorney emphasized that he had authored articles in significant publications and he was one of very few scientists in the country working on his particular set of problems.

Dr. Gao’s petition was filed March 30, 2005 and approved in soon after.

Dr. Huo

Dr. Huo holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from a university on the west coast of the US.  Dr. Huo is currently studying the mechanism of epigenetic regulation at the National Cancer Institute, obviously a position and topic of great importance for the nation’s collective health.

Dr. Huo retained our firm in 2005 to file his NIW petition.  Our attorneys were able to put Dr. Huo’s achievements in their best light.  His biomedical research had been published or cited over 20 times, a fact to which we directed the immigration official’s attention. We were able to also find several independent advisory opinions to add even more persuasive power to our argument.

Because of Z&A’s legal expertise that our attorneys bring to each and every case, Dr. Huo’s petition was approved in June 2005.
