Half of PERM Cases Processed within 30 Days, and ¾ Approved The DOL recently provided a general update on the processing of cases at the two NPCs. The DOL has certified more than 80,000 cases in FY2006 (10/1/05—10/1/06). They have approximately 11,000 cases in their system on any given day. Currently, the distribution of the active cases is 60% in Analyst Review stage (this includes Audit cases), 32% in Reconsideration/Appeals stage and 8% in sponsorship stage. The DOL did not provide any specific processing dates for the audit or motion queues. They indicated they are processing the cases in a FIFO order to the point the case is assigned to an analyst for processing. Since each analyst may be handling their workload at a slightly difference pace due to various factors – it may appear that some cases appear to be processed not in FIFO order. Approx 160,000 cases have been received. About 11% were mailed in. DOL strongly discourages mailed in cases as typing the cases in is a great drain on resources. Of the cases received, 73% have been certified and 24% denied. 48% have been processed within 30 days; another 20% processed between 31-60 days. 28% of active caseload in sponsorship and analyst review were filed before July 1, 2006.
