Application Fees for Non-Immigrant Visas to Increase On January 1, 2008 On December 13, the U.S. State Department announced that it would be increasing its fees for non-immigrant visas from $100 to $131. This fee increase is necessary because of increased costs associated with security and “other enhancements to the non-immigrant visa application process.” Reimbursement to the FBI for its review of each applicant’s set of 10 fingerprints was cited as the major new cost. The fee increase will take effect on January 1, 2008 for new applicants. All applicants who have already paid and who are scheduled for an interview on or before January 31 will only pay the original $100 fee. Pre-paid applicants with interviews scheduled after January 31 will have to pay an addition $31 before visa application interviewing. It is important to note that these fees apply to visa applications with US consulates overseas and DO NOT impact the filing fees with the USCIS. --------------- At Zhang & Associates, P.C., our attorneys and supporting professionals are committed to providing high quality immigration and non-immigration visa services.
