New Office in Austin Zhang & Associates is pleased to announce the opening of its new office in Austin, Texas. Austin is the capital of Texas and the 16th-largest city in the United States. About 1.5 million people, known as “Austinites,” live in the city and its surrounding areas. MSN recently named Austin the “Greenest City in America” for its commitment to an environmentally sustainable lifestyle. Austin is also known as the “Live Music Capital of the World.” Today, the city has more music venues per capita than any other U.S. city, as well as featuring the enormous South by Southwest and Austin City Limits festivals each year, both of which feature live music. Austin is also famous for its “Keep Austin Weird” campaign, representative of a movement by Austinites to support small, independent businesses rather than large corporate chains. The slogan also expresses support for Austin’s diversity and eccentricity. Austin is also well known for its lakes, three of which fall completely within city limits—although perhaps its most famous lake is Lake Travis, which lies on the city’s western edge. One of the most prominent features of Austin is the University of Texas at Austin. The largest college in Texas and the fifth largest in the country, UT is home to nearly 50,000 students and 16,500 faculty and staff. In addition to its large size, UT is known for providing high-quality public education. The university also has a strong athletic program and active Greek life. Austin is also home to many high-tech companies, which have spurred the city’s rapid development in the last few years and earned it the nickname “the Silicon Hills.” Many major high-tech firms, including Apple, HP, Dell, National Semiconductor, Intel, and Samsung have offices there.
