Immigration Progress: Something to Be Thankful For

On the fourth Thursday of every November, families and friends throughout the nation gather together to give thanks to those who have played positive roles in their lives. This Thanksgiving, Zhang & Associates wants to remember what we are truly celebrating and give thanks to all those who have worked tirelessly in the collaborative effort to improve and maintain our nation’s immigration system.

First of all, we would like to pay homage to our clients for their trust in our firm to handle their immigration cases. We are honored to have you as our clients, and we are dedicated to making your American dream a reality.

We also appreciate the hard work of some lawmakers on Capitol Hill, who have gone out of their way to advocate immigration reform and benefits. In particular, we thank Senator Clinton, Representative Lofgren, and Representative Gohmert for their bipartisan efforts to draft new immigration-reform legislation. We were honored to have the opportunity to meet with Representative Lofgren, chair of the House Immigration Committee, and Representative Gohmert in their offices and discuss issues such as increasing the H-1B quota and immigrant visa numbers and speeding up FBI background checks. Representative Lofgren made possible the immigrant visa number reversal on July 17, 2007, by writing a strong letter to the director of USCIS.

Moreover, we appreciate the senators who recently urged the USCIS to extend OPT to 29 months and the representatives who introduced a bill that requires the FBI to speed up the name-check process.

We would also like to take this opportunity to highlight the dedication and consistent professionalism of most USCIS immigration officers. During our numerous interactions via phone and email regarding clients’ cases, they have demonstrated their helpfulness and professionalism.

Moreover, we at Zhang & Associates are truly thankful for all of the support we have received from the employers, professors, and colleagues of our clients. They have played important roles in strengthening our clients’ NIW, EB-1(a), EB-1(b), and PERM cases.

We at Zhang & Associates realize that everyone in the United States celebrates Thanksgiving differently, so this is our way of showing how much we truly appreciate the good work of our clients; some law makers; most USCIS officers; and the employers, professors, and colleagues of our clients. Working together, we build American dreams and make the United States a better country. After all, this great nation is a country of immigrants in the past and present.

We wish you a very happy Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season!
