USCIS To Continue to Issue ADIT (I-551) Stamps

Recently, some District Offices indicated that they would no longer issue ADIT (I-551) stamps, evidence of permanent residency before the official green card is issued.This, of course, would cause serious problems for those permanent residents who wish to travel abroad before the formal green card is issued.Today, we learned from AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association) that the USCIS will continue with existing policy allowing issuance of the ADIT (I-551) stamp for permanent residents. The USCIS is expected to make a formal written confirmation of this news within the next few days.
