USCIS New I-485 Form Issue: Previous Edition Accepted

On August 8, 2007, USCIS posted its 3 rd FAQ on I-485 filing, and the FAQ stated that “07/30/07 Y” edition of I-485 should be used for I-485 filing before August 18.

This statement, however, does not provide the full picture. At the USCIS website, in the section of “Immigration Forms”, it clear stated that “Previous Edition Accepted” under the Form I-485.

Therefore, if you have used previous edition of I-485 forms (such as “07/24/06” edition), it is fine and it is acceptable according to the USCIS website posting.

The edition of the form is indicated on the right bottom corner of the form. The “Y” after the date of the edition date (such as “07/30/07 Y”) means the previous edition is acceptable.
