AILA Annual Conference NIW/EB1 Discussion

By Victor Bush, Attorney at Law (lbush@hooyou.com)

Recently, Attorneys Jian Zhou and Lawrence Bush, from Zhang & Associates, P.C., attended the annual conference of The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). AILA is the predominate association of immigration lawyers in the U.S. Consequently the AILA annual conference is the top gathering of immigration lawyers in this country.

As National Interest Waiver (NIW) and EB-1 cases constitute our most significant areas of practice, our attorneys naturally were drawn to a conference session specifically dealing with these types of cases.

While our attorneys learned some valuable information from the attorneys speaking at this session, what is most striking is how much these other attorneys were telling those at the session what we already knew.  For instance, the attorneys presenting their insights to the other attorneys stressed the value of having letters from experts that are focused on what matters of importance to the authoring experts, especially how that indicates influence/impact/recognition/acclaim from the author, rather than making general discussions about all possible aspects of a client’s work. Other examples include the use of certain citing papers to show quality rather than just quantity of citations, avoiding legal language in expert letters, and the concern that weak evidence can dilute good evidence. Such practices were already well established by attorneys at Zhang & Associates. From this we have confirmed that our attorneys are already employing the best practices in NIW/EB-1 case preparation.

This should come as no surprise considering the very extensive experience of attorneys at Zhang & Associates, P.C. in handling such cases, including significant experience in handling NIW and EB-1 appeals.

Those seeking services of Zhang & Associates, P.C. should be assured that they will receive top-level service on par with the best attorney practices on a nationwide scale. As evidence of our good work, from January to July 2010, our firm received 142 NIW case approvals and 112 EB-1 case approvals.
