USCIS Accepts I-485s until August 17 As we predicted early today, good news about Visa Bulletin for July 17, 2007 finally came out from DOS. DOS announced on July 17 that the Visa Bulletin for July 2007 released on June 12 is valid. Visa numbers are available for all applicants in all employment-based immigration categories except “other workers.” Please also note that visa numbers are “Unavailable” for all applicants for August 2007. However, as a remedy to the visa bulletin debacle, USCIS will accept all I-485s filed no later than August 17, 2007. However, you must file your I-140 before August 1 if you want to file your I-485 before August 18. The current filing fee schedule will apply to all I-485s filed no later than August 17, 2007. The new fee schedule that becomes effective on July 30, 2007, will apply to all other applications filed on or after July 30, 2007. Now, hurry up, contact your attorney, prepare your application documents, make appointments for medical examinations, and make sure your application can be received by USCIS no later than August 17.
