Visa Bulletin for July 07: All “Current”

Department of State released the latest Visa Bulletin for July 2007 on June 13, 2007. There is a big leap! Cut off dates for all categories of employment-based immigration except “other workers” changed to “Current.” This is for all chargeability areas, including China and India , which had immigration visa retrogression in the past two years. This progress means all China and India-born applicants can submit I-485 petitions in July 2007.

However, given the availability of visa numbers for all applicants, there might be substantial new I-485 applications submitted to USCIS in a short period of time. Therefore, visa numbers for China and India may be overcharged again in certain point of time in the near future. Then, visa bulletin retrogression might appear again.

In addition, USCIS's new fees will be effective from July 30, 2007. There is a significant increase in the USCIS fees. For example, the application fee for I-140 is adjusted from $195 to $475, and the application fee for I-485 is adjusted from $325 to $1010 for adults and $600 if under 14.

Therefore, we suggest those who are planning immigration applications act immediately, ideally submit the I-485 applications before July 2007. Zhang and Associates, P.C. will allocate all resources to help our clients file their cases as soon as possible.
