65,000 Standard H1B Cap Was Met on 5/26 USCIS announced today that the 65,000 H1B cap for fiscal year of 2007 was met on 5/26/2006. The final receipt date for H1B applications subject to FY 2007 was May 26, 2006. Petitions received on 5/26 will be subject to a random selection process to determine which cases will be accepted. H1B petitions received after 5/26 will be rejected and returned. However, the 20000 H1B cap reserved for American master’s and above degrees is not met yet. Aliens qualified should hurry up to apply this pool. It seems we have a far tighter situation in the caps this year given the reality of the 65000 standard H1B cap. We anticipate the 20000 advanced degree cap will also be met soon, because more and more qualified aliens will turn to this pool because there are no more H1B visas available in the 65,000 standard cap.
