New Year Message From Z&A As we face another new year with excitement and anticipation, I want to take the opportunity to reflect on the events of the past year. 2005 brought our clients and the immigrant community predominantly good fortunes. I wish for this uplifting trend to continue in the New Year, and looking to a 2006 filled with harmony and promise, I hope all the good things will continue while the negatives become a part of our past. As regular visitors to our website's immigration news section (at www.hooyou.com ) may be aware, US immigration law experienced some changes in 2005. Some are beneficial, such as giving more liberty to guest workers, expanding the cap for H1-B petitioners, and reducing the financial records requirement for I-864 petitioners. Others are less-than-optimistic, most notably the retrogression of EB-1 and EB-2 Visa numbers for Chinese and Indian nationals. However, despite such regulations, the processing time for many immigration cases has reduced greatly. Cases that previously took years to process now may only take months. One of our PERM petitions was certified in just 4 days after filing! The retrogression status for Chinese and Indian nationals is also improving, as the cut-off dates continue to leap forward, an extremely positive sign. As USCIS moves to a more complete electronic filing and adjudication system, the outlook for speedier case in the coming year is even more promising. 2005 proved to be a year of constant positive growth for our firm as well. Our New York offices are now fully operational, joining our Houston and Chicago offices to sustain our firm's high approval rates and deliver the most convenient services. We will constantly strive to improve our services to help our clients smoothly and efficiently obtain case approvals and secure their better futures. Our achievements would be meaningless, however, without the loyalty and support of our clients, friends, and community.
