A 12/19/02 interim final rule
amends HHSs regulations to permit the agency to act
as an interested government agency with respect to J-1 home
residency requirement waivers for physicians, thereby taking
over the role played by the USDA in handling waiver applications
for primary care physicians who agree to work in underserved

Services announces that it will act as an interested government

Issues Interim Rule Governing SEVIS's Applicability to the

The State Department has
issued interim regulations to set forth the Student and Exchange
Visitor Information System (SEVIS) requirements that specifically
pertain to exchange visitor program sponsors. The rule took
effect upon publication, and comments are due 1/13/03

The DOS announces the
introduction of a new form, DS-3035,
for application for a waiver of the two-year residency requirement.
DOS has increased the filing
fee for the Waiver Review Application to $230. The effective
date of the fee increase was June 1, 2002.
