2020 H-1B Registration Period Has Started

Starting March 1, 2020, H-1B petitioners can begin to register the beneficiaries they plan to sponsor. This is a change of pace from previous years as USCIS has implemented a registration system which will be used to conduct the H-1B lottery. Petitioners will need to create an account and register all beneficiaries they plan to sponsor this H-1B season. Those who do not register will not be in the pool of potential H-1B beneficiaries to be selected via the lottery.

The registration period will start on March 1, 2020 and end on March 20, 2020 at noon Eastern time. The registration process is relatively straightforward and will require the petitioner (or an authorized signatory) to input basic information about the beneficiary. Each beneficiary will be assigned a number to track their registrations.

Once the registration period has ended, USCIS will conduct the annual H-1B lottery and will notify the petitioners whether their beneficiaries were selected. USCIS intend on notifying account holders by March 31, 2020. The petitioners will then have 90 days to submit the H-1B applications for the beneficiaries that have been selected.

The H-1B application process is complicated enough on its own without the additional online registration process. Luckily, the online registration system allows the creation of an account for legal representatives. This type of account will even provide a way for the employer to log on and check on the status of the registrations.

At Zhang & Associates, we have successfully represented thousands of non-immigrant and immigrant visas cases.  Our experienced immigration attorneys are here to guide professionals through the complicated H-1B application process, and minimize any and all confusion or challenges. As your legal counsel, we will register beneficiaries in this new system, complete the employer consent form, and fully prepare all H-1B petitions pre or post lottery selection. We understand how important an H-1B visa is to you, whether as the employer or the prospective employee. Our seasoned staff and years-long track record of success make Zhang & Associates the natural choice to facilitate your H-1B petitions.
