H-1B Random Lottery Selection for FY2016 Has Ended

On April 13, 2015, USCIS used a computer generated process to randomly select the 65,000 visa cap and 20,000 advanced degree exemption caps for H-1B petitioners. USCIS announced that they received around 233,000 H-1B for the 2016 fiscal year. USCIS will return all rejected petitions with their filing fees.

USCIS will continue to accept petitions exempt from the cap including petitions filed for current H-1b workers who have counted against the cap in previous years, petitions to extend the stay for H-1b workers, petitions to change terms of employment or employers, and petitions to allow current H-1b workers to work in a second H-1b position.
