Madelyn is a Missouri and Texas licensed attorney. She graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis, where she double-majored in English and African and African-American Studies, and graduated cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law. While in law school, Madelyn was a member of her school’s mock trial team. She was the regional champion and reached nationals of the National Trial Competition in both of her years on the team. In her third year of law school, she reached the quarterfinals of nationals. For her outstanding performance on the trial team, she was awarded the Milton F. Napier Award for Excellence in Trial Advocacy by the Lawyer’s Association of St. Louis. Also while in law school, Madelyn worked for the Missouri State Public Defender in both their St. Louis City and St. Louis County offices, as well as for the Federal Defender for the Eastern District of Missouri. During her time at the St. Louis County Public Defender’s office, she gained courtroom experience as a Rule 13 certified law student, conducting preliminary hearings for felony clients as well as representing clients in felony guilty pleas and probation violation determinations. For her dedication to public interest law, she was named the Stuart L. Oelbaum Public Interest Law Fellow and also received the school’s Equal Justice Works Award. Madelyn also worked for a sole practitioner during law school whose practice was focused on criminal law.

Prior to law school, Madelyn worked for a sole practitioner in St. Louis who handled a variety of matters ranging from real estate, to contract law to franchise law.

Madelyn volunteered throughout college and law school, tutoring and mentoring middle school and high school students throughout the St. Louis area. In her free time, Madelyn likes to run, play volleyball and softball and dance.
