USCIS released the latest H-1B visa information on June 4, 2012. As of June 1, 2012, USCIS reported that approximately 55,600 cap petitions had been filed and 18,700 spots for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filled.

In summary, within one week from May 18 to May 25, about 6400 cap petitions and 1500 petitions for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filed; within one week from May 25 to June 1, about 7200 cap petitions and 1200 petitions for U.S. advanced degree holders have been filed.
We predict that H-1B availability will probably cease within one week at the current pace.
However, please remember, those who receive a job offer from a U.S. University, governmental research institution or non-profit research organization will not count towards the general H-1B cap mentioned above.
