If the marriage becomes nonviable ,i.e. the couple separates or no longer shares a household, while in the process of I-485 Adjustment of Status after the immigration petition was approved, the petition of adjustment of status can not be denied provided that the marriage was entered into in good faith. However, if the marriage is legally terminated, the alien's petition could be denied.
